Mentoring Philosophy

Advance the profession of interpreting through skill development and self-analysis - one interpreter at a time.

CRITERIA for meaningful MENTORING

Modeling

as a mentor, I will continue to learn about myself.

Encouraging
as a mentor, I will care for and cherish each and every scholar that crosses my path.

Nurturing
as a mentor, I will foster growth and self-discovery.

Teaching
as a mentor, I want to be Greek! They figured out so long ago that life/learning is a journey, yet it still seems like such a mystery in our modern and technically-advanced world.

Observing
as a mentor, I will be culturally competent.

Responsible
as a mentor, I will be present and mindful of the scholar's journey.

INTUITIVE

as a mentor, I will resist temptations to impose my worldviews schema onto others.

NOBLE
as a mentor, I am the embodiment of wisdom but not its source.

GIVING
as a mentor, I will always learn more because I can't give away what I don't have.
